Adventures in Liam's imagination.
This campaign takes place in a world compposed of islands, scattered across a broad ocean, inspired by the Ursula K. Le Guin’s EarthSea. Some islands are thousands of leagues away from any other peice of land, some are within swimming distance of each other. There are isles filled with peaceful human communities living agrarian lives, others with large(relatively speaking) cities, desert isles haunted by ghosts, isles of elves or goblins, pretty much everything on some peice of land somewhere. The islands can be somewhat generalized into several regions.
-The World’s Crown (an Island) and the areas around, are the administrative, monetary, and (to some extent) spiritual center of much of the known world. It is the wealthiest region, and has a gentle temperate climate. This climate, along with the general closeness of most of the islands, has allowed almost all of the region to be controlled by the Harne Empire. Though direct control fades pretty soon as the water deepens further from Center Sea and the Shallow Sea, events here are felt on most civilized isle’s for thousands of leagues in every direction. The primary species is human, but halflings, elves, gnomes, and a smattering of other species can be found in the region. The Cedar Islands are largely controlled by the Fae and elves, and The Quarters (four large mountainous islands) are also occupied largely by magical creatures giving no allegiance to the Emperor. The Hundred Isles also do not bow to the throne.
-the Hundred Isles are a vast grouping of tiny Islands between Crown sea and Shallow Sea. They are all tiny, and the folk there (mostly humans and halflings) are relatively peaceful and poor, but very independent. They fought constant skirmishes for centuries against the Harne Empire and the Cardori before that, but the vast armies and war machines were useless amongst the tiny islands. For the last two hundred years this comglomerate of independent islands (which probably contains more than a hundred, though no one has ever bothered counting) has lived peacefully and privately in the midst of the rich empire.
